Spring is definitely in the air. After the winter that most of the country endured, seeing the first signs of spring are such a relief. Whether you’re thinking of throwing a leisurely party in your garden or a lavish brunch with all the fixings, these stylish and whimsical table décor trends will welcome spring – and your guests — with open arms.
Add flair with fresh, vibrant flowers, grasses and moss. Everything looks better when it’s adorned with a bounty of fresh-cut flowers. Bring the garden to any table by using spring varieties of gerbera daisies, dahlias, lilacs, roses, peonies, hyacinth and tulips.
Add visual interest to your floral arrangements by accenting with grasses, like wheatgrass.
Wheatgrass not only looks beautiful, but it’s good for you, too. A favorite ingredient in fresh juices, you can grow wheatgrass yourself from a kit or it can be found at most health food markets.
Fresh moss is also an option. Check with your local florist or nursery for types and availability.
Think outside the container. Beautiful flowers don’t have to be showcased in a traditional vase. Consider featuring your spring blooms in containers of varying sizes, shapes, colors and materials. Try a cluster of colored glass vessels, for instance.
Or arrange flowers in a rustic watering can.
Stack wheatgrass on a cake stand and dot with fresh blooms or lemons and limes for a burst of color. Get a little playful by adding colorful candies, silk butterflies or other novelties that coordinate with your theme. For an Easter brunch, place a colored egg or two amidst the grass.
Bedazzle guests with butterflies and birds. If you’ve been out shopping lately, chances are you’ve picked up on the butterfly and birds trend. They are everywhere; on pillows, bedding, table linens, plates, clothes and everything in between. Craft stores like Michaels sell varying styles of butterfly and bird embellishments. Add whimsy to your spring table by inviting our winged friends from Mother Nature!
This stunning centerpiece featured in Southern Living magazine abounds with gorgeous spring flowers and silk butterflies. For the how to, visit Southern Living.
Guests will ‘flutter’ over a sophisticated bird theme. Cluster birds’ nests of varying sizes in the center of your table, then fill with flower buds, lemons, limes – anything that makes you feel like spring!
Color makes the ordinary extraordinary! Plain old items like mason jars can add new life to your table when they are displayed in a rainbow of color. Use them to hold flowers or fill with water and add floating candles. If you can’t find colored mason jars, fill clear ones with jelly beans or Jordan almonds of different colors (one color of candy per jar).
Just remember… creativity doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag! Discount retailers like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods are excellent sources for festive and unique decorative. One of my personal favorites is the Christmas Tree Shoppe, which is a great place to find seasonal trinkets at low prices. Whatever the occasion, these trends will make your table shine!
